The Challenge of Ballet Dancing

staying limberWhen going to dance school or working for a dance group performing ballet, the challenges a dancer faces are numerous. They must be dedicated to dancing above all other things that may be going on in their life and saving their money up for the things that they will inevitably need for their performances and classes. There are so many expenses that many dancers must spend their days dancing and their nights working to keep up with their bills and more. It is all a part of the challenge of ballet dancing and all dancers must accept it.

Staying in Shape

working outWhen friends are going out eating fast food and tons of French fries, dancers have to stick with salads and other healthy foods. They must also be devoted to working out and staying in shape. Even a weekend off can throw off their balance and cause them to start cramping on Monday morning, so dance is virtually something that must be done on a daily basis, while finding time to rest their body. A lot of choreography goes into all dance routines. As a ballet dancer, you must know how to learn it quickly and make sure that it all flows together well. This also requires you to be in excellent health physically.

Relationship Woes

Money Troubles

Ballet shoes cost around $60 per pair and most have to be swapped out every couple of weeks or so. There are also other costs that come along with dance because of classes and other things. This often means that a second job is something most dancers have to have if they want to be able to keep up with their cost of living, and all of life’s other expenses.
